Northern Pulp has received an official order from Nova Scotia Environment Minister Gordon Wilson detailing the process for completing its shutdown following the legislated date of Jan. 31.

According to The Canadian Press, the mill will be allowed to continue using Boat Harbour to deposit water from its boiler until April 30. The mill will also be permitted to dump water from its winterization processes and site run-off.

At that point, the order indicates that the effluent discharge pipe in Boat Harbour will be cleaned and disconnected.
